Licensed Mandarin/Cantonese–English Interpreter and Translator

The objective of The Role:

To provide precise and culturally sensitive interpretation and translation services between Mandarin/Cantonese and English, enabling clear and effective communication in a variety of professional environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate written materials between Mandarin/Cantonese and English with accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
• Deliver professional consecutive and simultaneous interpretation in legal, healthcare, business, and community settings.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with industry standards and professional codes of conduct.
• Tailor language and tone based on audience, context, and setting.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to support successful communication outcomes.
• Conduct proofreading and quality control to ensure translation accuracy and consistency.
  

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid Canadian certification or license as a professional interpreter/translator (Mandarin and/or Cantonese–English).
• Full fluency in English and Mandarin and/or Cantonese (written and spoken).
• Proven experience in professional interpretation and translation.
• Strong understanding of linguistic and cultural nuances across Chinese dialects.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
• Familiarity with translation tools and interpretation platforms is an asset.
• Available for full-time or part-time work with flexible scheduling.
